How it works
Size and price
We're anticipating most birds will come in somewhere between 15 and 25 lbs, with maybe a few exceptions on the larger side. At $8.25/lb, that's roughly $125 to $205 for the whole bird, and your $40 deposit comes off that.
We're a small farm, not a factory. These birds are raised outside on pasture and they don't all come out the same size, so we can't promise an exact weight. We'll get you as close to what you asked for as we can, and earlier deposits get first pick.
For planning, figure 1 to 1.5 pounds per person. A 15 lb bird feeds 10 to 15 people.
Pickup and delivery
There is no delivery fee on Thanksgiving turkeys.
Home delivery is for addresses inside our Rochester and Buffalo delivery areas. Check your ZIP.
Thawing
Your turkey comes frozen. Keep it in the freezer, then thaw it in the fridge: one day for every 4 to 5 pounds. A 20 lb bird needs four to five days, so it goes in the fridge by Saturday, November 21. If you pick up on November 20 or 22, put it straight in the fridge. If you want a bigger bird, choose one of the earlier dates so it has time to thaw.
Common questions
Is the $40 on top of the price?
No. It comes off your final total.
Can I pick an exact weight?
No. Tell us smaller, medium, larger, or no preference, and we'll match you as closely as we can when the weights are in.
What if the bird you match me with doesn't work?
Tell us when we email you. We'll offer another bird if one is available, or refund your $40.
Can I cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable unless we can't match you with a bird that works for you.
When am I charged the rest?
When we pack your order for your pickup or delivery date. It goes on the card you used for the deposit.
Can I change my pickup or delivery date?
Yes. Email us and we'll move you to any of the dates above.
Can I reserve more than one?
Yes. Set the quantity at checkout. It's one $40 deposit per bird.
Can I get other cuts with my turkey?
Yes. After we email you your bird's weight, place a regular order on the store for the same pickup or delivery date as your turkey. It comes with your bird, with no delivery fee and no minimum. Order deadlines: Thursday, November 5 for Rochester delivery, Thursday, November 12 for Buffalo delivery, Friday, November 13 or 20 for Brighton pickup, and Thursday, November 19 for on-farm pickup.
Is it fresh or frozen?
Frozen. The birds are processed October 23 and frozen right away.
How are the turkeys raised?
On pasture, moved often to fresh grass, with a non-GMO feed that has no corn and no soy.
When do deposits close?
Tuesday, October 20, or sooner if we're fully reserved.
